Quarantine Weeks - 5 & 6 Completed

Lots of exercise going on in the Etter household.  Regan and I completed week 3 of the Couch to 5K (C25K) training. She is also walking Ollie daily. Morgan is doing dryland with Blue Tide 2x a week & is practicing her strokes off of the bar.  We are also doing lots of bike rides...the girls are competitive with their daily walking steps as well as their general mileage (walking and biking combined).

Homework continues for both girls.  Morgan has been working on prepositions, Texas missions and "heroes", geometry, and lots of reading (we learned more about the author that helped increase graphic novel interest). Morgan & I started reading John Grisham's teen book series - book 1, Theodore Boone.
Special friend, Ella, porch-dropped fresh cookies this week for Morgan. We also supported a local "cookie bomb" vendor, Stacey's Sweets.   Something new!

We are enjoying our large, morning breakfasts!  After a bike ride & run, we love our eggs & Canadian bacon, & even friend potatoes (left over baked potatoes).  I also tried chicken kabobs this week!

Morgan and I finished our first puzzle together.  500 pieces. Now on to the 750 piece puzzle! The dog got hold of one dropped piece and managed to chew it up. First thing he has chewed up!!

Cousin Kathy provided us with 2 face masks - for if and when we need one!!

Some sisterly bonding during this quarantine time.

Quarantine - Week 4 Completed

This week seemed harder than the prior weeks.  The Good Friday "holiday" seemed to change the week - less work, less homework, less of a "normal" schedule.  But, we still made it a good week.

Regan completed week ONE of her "Couch to 5K" training!  Running 1 minute, walking 1.5 minutes X 8. We baked and tried new recipes (double layer cake, trash, key lime pie (so yummy!), Gigi's Peanut Butter cookies, Sloppy Joes, Grandpa's biscuits, and 1st visit to Big City Wings (1st time my girls have eaten "wings"/meat off of bones). Morgan also spent time addressing envelopes in cursive for Easter cards. We even had a "home visit" from Kona Ice snow cones - such a nice, refreshing treat!

Easter morning was fun - starting with a tricky scavenger hunt to find their baskets, followed by an Easter egg hunt in the backyard, and a late afternoon meal. The girls and I spent the weekend working on decorating 50 lunch bags for Kids Meals, Inc in Houston.  We did get points for NCL, but more importantly, we enjoyed having an excuse to sit and color together for a good cause!!

Quarantine - Week 3 Completed

Both girls completed another week of online study.  The teachers kept them busy. Morgan's teachers share the weekly schedule with us. M does a daily morning warm-up, then attends a Zoom meeting with her class to discuss. During the day, she works off of the list of assignments given to her.

During the last 2 weeks, Morgan & I have learned about The Life Cycle of Animals, The Alamo (the field trip that won't be happening this year!), geometry shapes, as well as perimeter and area. Lots of Powerpoint presentations!!

We also enjoyed reading "The One & Only Ivan" (still ongoing) & "Rosie Revere, Engineer" while comparing it to the real "Rosie the Riveters" who worked in the factories while the men were at war.

The girls are waking up early each day.  M & I start with an 8:30am bike ride in the neighborhood; then, R & I go for a walk at 9am.  Schoolwork begins after a late breakfast.  In the afternoons, we try to take a break & get outdoors for a Sonic bike ride (we are averaging a weekly 18-20 miles).

Grades were posted for Q3.  All As for both girls.

P.S. Poor doggie needs a haircut. He's worn out with all 4 of us home all day.  He follows me around for my workouts - inside and outside.  But, a ball always goes where he goes...
