Mission to Space
We watched the SpaceX launch this afternoon. The US opened a new era of human space travel as a private company for the first time launched 2 astronauts into orbit, nearly a decade after the gov't retired the storied space shuttle program. The girls thought it was "pretty cool".

Goodbye Hug for 4th Grade Teacher
M's teacher, Mrs. Gould, made a special stop by our house on the last day of school. She dropped off a pinwheel that said "it's been wheel-y great year"! Afterwards, M went to 2 end of school pool parties! {School sign made by Regan and Morgan.}

Regan's #14th Birthday!
Nothing like the Quarantined birthday to remember #14...not hanging with friends, but heard from many! No finals this year, but finished up last school assignment today! Special yard card!

Wrapping Up 4th Grade
We went to Deerwood on Wednesday to pick up all school supplies & remaining classwork. I enjoyed seeing Morgan's class picture & artwork. She was sad to see all of her saved "pogs" go unused. She had wanted to "spend" them on the "store" that the 4th grade class was creating. They issued awards this week to the kids. M ran her marathon in PE...& captured the Kit Kat award for all her hard work!

4th Grade Zoom Calls
Zoom calls...fun seeing friends on Zoom, but you can't capture all friends on one page. I asked Morgan who the "creepy guy" was on the call - she said that he is one of the student's aides. I felt better!

Quarantine Quotes: Funny, Inspirational & Religious
Facebook has been full of Quarantine and Covid-19 comments on a daily basis. I have found them comforting, inspirational & sometimes, just funny for a much needed laugh.
8th Grade - RELA Assignment
The Outsiders...I rarely see Regan's homework assignments. Just happened to see a teacher's comment ("well done & shows great effort...saving to show kids next year!")...& inquired to see it. It pertains to the book, "The Outsiders". The class had to show how actual songs related to the story (creating a "Playlist"). R took her studies seriously during this "home-schooling" time.

NCL Donations
When you can't volunteer, you donate... food for the local church food pantry & diapers/wipes to the women's shelter. Our National Charity League is finding alternative ways for us to help others.

Drive-by Birthday Celebrations
Morgan's friend, Grier, had a "birthday celebration" on Saturday. Friends were invited to drop-by, grab an ice cream sundae from Stacey's Sweets, & visit briefly. They threw some water balloons & jumped in the pool. Not social distancing the whole time, but they tried. No hugging. Most of these girls hadn't seen each other since before Spring Break. M & Ella have only seen each other at volleyball practice.

Favorite "Quotes" this Week
The girls and I were just talking about that "last normal day" before Quarantine started - Friday, March 13, 2020 - they both had a birthday party sleepover and C & I had date night at Torchy's. The 2nd picture gave me a good laugh - all great books and authors - & so represents our situation right now.
Quarantine Weeks 8 & 9 - Completed
Found this message on Regan's board. :) Next photo: Snail found on my walk w/ Morgan this am.
Regan tried Oatmeal Raisin cookies from the Quaker Oaks recipe. Half the batter made w/ choc chips! She's managing to smile through the pain - 1st visit to Ortho in mos. - rubber bands added to the mix!!
My quiet time. Enjoyed working on my 2nd puzzle...M likes to help me at the end. One missing piece.
School update: In RELA, M & I have read 2 books during "Quarantine school". We have one more week reading City of Ember. In Math, we have been learning about measurements (including volume and capacity - cups, pints, quarts, and gallons). I seemed to miss this in grade school - so, I'm helping & learning at the same time!! :) We did some "hands on" practicing of measuring by trying the Whataburger brand pancakes. [Didn't taste a difference.] In Science, M has been learning about non- & renewable resources, including recyclables. She also had a unit on electricity and circuits.
Last week, the girls and I went to pick up my car in The Woodlands. So, we added a few stops along the way: Dunkin Donuts, new shoes for Regan, a "free new tank" w/ shoe purchase (that I hope to steal from R) and a stop into Tyler's for a few new t-shirts and shorts!

5th Grade Ambassador
Following in Regan's footsteps, Morgan applied to become a 5th grade Ambassador. They are a select group of 5th graders that help the school administrators in the morning and afternoons. They assist with opening car doors (am & pm) and monitoring the playground area at school dismissal. She's excited!

Front Porch Photos
Quarantine "Front Porch" photo in the books! We tried to capture a few things that represented this quarantine period for us: lots of biking (bike), working out from home (weight), running (shoes), homeschooling (Chromebook), working from home (laptop), walking (AirPods/iphone in Regan's ear/lap), drinking lots of wine & the constant talk about finding toilet paper!! Our shaggy dog & unshaven hubby...as well as the Kingwood Strong & Home t-shirts seemed apropos for the picture! Our memo board came in handy for identifying "key words" used during this time. I love this family time, but I'm ready for some "normal". So glad to capture this time.
