Regan turns 6!

Regan woke early & got all dressed up for her special day!! I made pancakes and one in the shape of a #6 for Regan (stealing Aunt Leah's idea), and while it was tasty, it wasn't picture worthy! :)  Gift time...Both girls closed their eyes for the unveiling of the dollhouse! Regan exclaimed, "You got Morgan AND me a dollhouse!!" And, while the dollhouse was a hit, Regan asked "where are the stairs"? Morgan was still wondering "why did we have to cover our eyes?" Regan loved Gigi's bedding! The history of the dollhouse...Pops made it for me and I played with it quite extensively (along with all things Barbie!) in my closet.  Christopher has been re-painting, "re-tiling", and re-carpeting it for several weeks now. What was once a yellow dollhouse, is now pink!  While he did replace wallpaper in 2 rooms, we left some "original" wallpaper - for that "retro" look!

Memorial Day Weekend!

It has been a busy weekend - Grandma & Grandpa visited on Sunday. Regan loved their birthday gift to her & enjoyed putting the Lego "Friends" convertible together w/ Grandma.  Morgan told everyone all about Little Red Riding Hood (her favorite story) & "read" the book to Grandpa.

It's Official - Regan was Promoted to 1st Grade!!

The Promotion Ceremony - "it is not a graduation, as it is just the beginning" - per the principal. The 2 Kindergarten classes sang a song & then the teachers used the brand names of candy to describe the actions and behaviors of each child! At the end, a video ("K year in review") was played.
Regan loved her teacher! Mrs. Zwick described Regan as a "Star" - always reaching above & beyond - with new ideas and always keeping Mrs. Zwick on track! Thus, the Starburst candy!!Friends! Kaylee, R, Samantha, Maddie, and Cecilia (left); & w/ Addison (right) - friends since PK-3
Last official report card from Kindergarten! One of her last K-class projects! (A star student who will stop flipping her "b's" and "d's"!)

Regan's 6th Birthday - Pottery Party!

This year, we celebrated Regan's birthday with family and friends decorating pottery at Mudpie!
Cousin Caden & a very tired little sister joined the fun. Regan selected to paint a plate - and asked all of her friends to sign it! We had a total of 8 school friends join us for painting!
Birthday cake time! [If only the guests knew the cake and plates/napkins drama I experienced!!!]
Gift time! Regan handled the gift opening like such a big girl! She read each card and loved each gift!
Time to go home. {Harper & Uncle David arrived in time for cake!} Until next year...

The Grouchy Ladybug

Timely artwork!  As the school year comes to a close, we are trying to remember our "Right Choice" rules. Regan and several of her classmates were on RED yesterday!  That makes DADDY & ME grouchy!
[Note:  The author's name is Eric Carle. Slight typo on the teacher's part!]

Build-A-Bear / Tea Party

Regan went to her friend, Isabella's, 6th birthday on Sunday - yes, Mother's Day! The party started at Build-A-Bear & continued w/ dress-up play and a tea party at her house! This is how I spent 3-7pm! B/t cleaning house, doing laundry & going to b-day parties, I never called my own mother for Mother's Day!

Mother's Day Gifts!

Love the hand-print gifts!! Morgan (top); Regan - bottom (I can run, garden and plan a party!) The girls were standing by the door w/ these gifts in hand when I arrived home from my 6am run on Sunday!

The Little Gym - A 1st for Morgan

Morgan was invited to her friend, Geoffrey's, 3rd birthday on Saturday. She LOVED The Little Gym!

Fun with Daddy!

If only ice cream could keep us all well!!  The girls returned the duck to a wildlife rescue center on Saturday and stopped for ice cream on the way home.  Turns out that "our" duck was a "Wood Duck" - they nest in trees approximately 2 miles from water.  Once the baby ducks are old enough, they jump from the nest and follow their mother back to the water. If they get separated, well, you hope for another caring family like ours to find it! {Note:  Even Morgan's ice cream has to be purple!}

The Lionness & My Independent Little Girl

Regan’s teacher called me into the classroom this morning.  She wanted to convey a short story to me.  She stated that the class has been discussing lions and lionesses this week.  In particular, they learned the many roles and strengths of the lioness.  For example, the lioness does the majority of the hunting for the pride – as they are smaller, swifter and more agile than the male. Regan raised her hand and asked, “So, she doesn’t really need a man, does she?”

The Yellow School Bus

The girls love looking for and counting yellow school buses every morning.  We also have a school bus that comes down our street daily.  Sometimes, we see it in the afternoons - and when we do (like yesterday), the girls race to the end of the driveway to wave to the driver (who always waves back)! This morning, Morgan sang and Regan played Suduko while I prepared breakfast. Happy Friday!

The Visiting Duck

We had a surprise visitor to our garage door last Saturday.  It was a duck - yes, a duck. No, we don't live close to water. We assume it was someone's Easter duck that wandered off. The girls have enjoyed the duck's visit (& it has been a nice guest), but it will be finding a new home this weekend.

Pinkie Promise

Regan and I discussed going to a movie on Saturday when Morgan napped. Morgan never napped.  On Sunday, Regan asked again if we were going to the movies, I told her "no" because she was sick, but that we'd try to go next weekend.  She asked, "Pinkie Promise?" That was a first - and it was so sweet.  I had to say "yes". I guess we will go see Mirror Mirror next weekend as I promised.
