Summer Session I complete. I love the fact that the girls love going to "summer school". Regan insists that I NOT pick her up early! Morgan painted shells, drew ocean animals, learned the ocean terms in Spanish, "made" a fish, etc. It was quite an impressive "show & tell" for the parents this am.
Great example of a "common" practice in the Montessori system - mixing "science experiments" w/ the "practical life" tasks (and all the while "teaching"/utilizing various forms of hand motions). Note the various "tools" to transfer the liquids (sponge, dropper, tongs, and scoop) - w/ an ocean theme!
Regan's program was just as "awe"-some! They learned about conservation and the zones of the ocean; discussed the various ocean animals that are near extinction and ways to "save the whales".
They read the book "Island of the Blue Dolphins" and Regan did a report on Sea Anemones. I like the "job chart". She definitely thrives in this learning environment - & has met some nice friends!
