Sadly, this was NOT a family favorite, by any means (some of us may have closed our eyes a bit)...this Rodgers and Hammerstein work first premiered in 1949 on Broadway. At that time, they were introducing some mixed racial themes. Weak storyline in today's world, but it was a family outing to end our February break. The songs "Some Enchanted Evening" and "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair" were derived from this show.
